Adeje is the highest hotel profitability tourist destination in Spain

Adeje (Tenerife) heads the national ranking of income for accommodation, according to the latest report of the Profitability Barometer of the Spanish Tourist Destinations, prepared by Exceltur, an association that brings together 23 companies from the hotel sector, transport, travel agencies and tour operators. In the study, which carries out a detailed analysis of 38 sun and beach destinations, the Gran Canaria town of San Bartolomé de Tirajana is in second place and Arona occupies the third position.


The supremacy in benefits generated by the hotel establishments of the Islands is overwhelming with respect to the accommodation plant of the peninsular coast and the Balearic Islands. Nine of the 10 most profitable destinations are in the Archipelago. In addition to the mentioned municipalities, also they appear in the top ten La Oliva and Pájara (Fuerteventura), Tías, Teguise and Yaiza (Lanzarote), and Mogán (Gran Canaria).

Puerto de la Cruz is ranked 14th. The report analyzes three variables among holiday destinations in Spain: the RevPar (average income per available room), the average daily rate and the occupation between January 1 and April 30. , period in which the study was conducted. The quality of its accommodation offer, together with the high season that the sector is living, make Adeje the Spanish destination with the highest level of benefits. His numbers indicate it with clear clarity: 112 euros of average income per available room (compared to 64 for the state average); 88% occupancy (76% national) and an average daily rate of 127.5 euros (84.4 in the whole country).

The high concentration of 5 star hotels in Tenerife makes the difference in generating profits. This segment of luxury accommodation registered an average occupancy of 84.5% in the mentioned period and marked a daily rate of 228 euros.

The bordering municipality, Arona, also comes out well in the statistics of Exceltur, with 95.3 euros of income per available room, 90% occupancy and 106 euros of average rate per day. Both Adeje and Arona improve their figures reflected in last year’s report.
