The Hotel Riu Garoe 4*, a four-star hotel establishment located in Puerto de la Cruz has recently reopened after two and a half months closed for the execution of a complete renovation of its facilities. The reform has mainly focused on completely renovating all rooms, main restaurant and certain kitchen areas. A solarium chillout terrace with Balinese beds has also been opened on the third floor.


The hotel is part of the catalog of the Balearic origin chain RIU Hotels & Resorts, but independently owned and managed, a success formula that both parties have kept active since its opening in 2002 and that has brought them the most important recognition: of your customers

The Hotel Riu Garoe has a clientele of mostly German origin, followed by English, Spanish and French, predominantly the holiday tourist, and to a lesser extent the client of events and congresses.

The reform of the Hotel Riu Garoe adds a new value to the renewal strategy of Puerto de la Cruz, promoted not only by the business sector, but by public institutions such as the City Council of Porto or the Cabildo de Tenerife, coordinated by the Urban Rehabilitation Consortium of Puerto de la Cruz, in which the inter-administrative public sector and the private sector participate.

For the property of the establishment, this renovation means “successfully completing the ambitious and exciting challenge of providing the establishment with modern, current, high quality and high comfort facilities, friendly to the environment and capable of satisfying our most demanding clientele; an effort that the family has assumed with great enthusiasm and that it trusts helps to boost the tourist city par excellence of Puerto de la Cruz ”, comments the owner, Juan Manuel Farrais.

The hotel has 190 rooms of different categories, all with balconies overlooking the sea or the Teide. In this renovation of facilities, a new spa with a jet circuit pool, jacuzzi, cold well, sensation showers, salt sauna, Finnish sauna and steam bath, as well as a hot bed area or aesthetic cabins, has been launched. And beauty. In addition, the complex has a main buffet restaurant, as well as two bars, one of them next to the pool.

The hotel staff consists of about 110 workers, 95% of them of local origin (Valle de La Orotava), which highlights the company’s commitment to local, Tenerife and Canary Islands professionals, in general.

The establishment has been distinguished with numerous awards given by its clients and for its good environmental practices, such as the TUI Umwelt Champion, which recognizes the sustainability of the hotels and that the RIU Garoé earns year after year consecutively since 2012. It has also been distinguished on numerous occasions with the TUI Holly, considered the Oscar of tourist awards, as well as with the Holiday Check Award and the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence, both awarded by customers in recognition of the quality of service. In recognition of its environmental and sustainable commitment, the company has been audited and certified with the international Travelife label for six years.

With this renovation, the chain has carried out the complete reform of its four hotels in Tenerife, in the absence of RIU Buenavista, pending these rehabilitation works.
