The Cabildo de Tenerife has initiated the procedure for the adjudication of the exploitation under lease of the old Grand Hotel Taoro in Puerto de la Cruz, once the contracting table has proposed the company Tropical Turística Canaria S.L. as adjudicator of the public tender called by the Corporación insular. This company will make an investment of more than 25 million euros for rehabilitation and improvement of the building itself, the equipment and the gardens surrounding the building. In addition, and as they gather the bidding conditions of the public tender, the contractor commits to contribute each year 380,000 euros for the maintenance of the building and an additional investment of 3.8 million in the last ten years of the sixties that contemplates the contract lease to ensure the return of the facilities to the The Cabildo de Tenerife in an optimal state.
The annual fee to be paid by the contractor for the lease amounts to 485,000 euros per year but will be exempt from paying until the cost of the investment made up to a maximum of 29,100,000 euros. In addition, the The Cabildo de Tenerife will contribute 15 million euros to finance part of the necessary works in the property.
According to the report of the expert committee responsible for the analysis and evaluation of the proposals, the offers presented have been characterized by their high quality. In addition to evaluating aspects such as the technical and architectural proposal of the preliminary project of rehabilitation, the building and functional solution as well as sustainable management measures, among others, the technicians also analyzed the planned plan for maintenance, the preliminary project of equipment and the management project from the activity center.
The offer submitted by the successful bidder defines the new establishment as a luxury hotel, a philosophy that fits perfectly with the tourist positioning of Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife.
