The Government had promoted the modification on the occasion of the declaration of the city of San Cristóbal La Laguna as a World Heritage Cultural Property. The Canarian Executive has agreed in the Government Council and on the proposal of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, to change the official name of the airport of Tenerife North and baptize it with the name of ‘Tenerife North Airport-Ciudad de la Laguna’.


Thus, the Government had promoted the modification on the occasion of the declaration of the city of San Cristóbal La Laguna as a World Heritage Cultural Property by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1999, as reported the Canarian Executive in press release.

As regards San Cristóbal de La Laguna is a municipality that by history, population and infrastructure has a relevant weight in the Canary archipelago, hosting the airport so far called Tenerife North, which is the entry point for national and international visitors.
