SAS Airlines‎ will connect Tenerife with Copenhagen from October 29, 2017 with a new route that will operate from Tenerife South airport and will have a weekly frequency every Sunday.

The Cabildo president, Carlos Alonso, in a note of “very good news” this new regular air connection, which will allow the island to attract customers not only from Denmark but also from southern Sweden, “two markets in which there are much interest”.

For his part, the island’s tourism adviser, Alberto Bernabé, points out that the company will operate with an Airbus A320 with capacity for 168 passengers, which is a supply during the season of a total of 9,408 seats.

Bernabe reminds that this connection “would add to the one that will also maintain Norwegian with Copenhagen for the winter, a connection that supposes almost 60 percent of the traffic coming from Denmark”.

Last year SAS transported Tenerife to 31,154 passengers, a figure that represented a 3% increase over the previous year.

The company maintained connections in 2016 from the island to Denmark, Norway and Sweden, with operations focused mainly on the months of the winter season and with occasional operations in the summer months with Denmark and Norway.

In the first four months of this year, passenger growth from SAS to Tenerife has increased by 10.5 percent over the same period last year to 17,957 arriving passengers in the first four months of 2017.

Tenerife maintains connections this year with the Danish cities of Copenhagen, Billund, Aalborg and Aarhus operated by different companies.

From Sweden, non-stop routes are to Stockholm / Arlanda, Goteborg, Malmoe / Sturup, Stockholm / Skavsta, Orebro, Norrkoping, Vaxjo and Jonköping, and from Norway the connections are with Oslo-Gardermoen, Bergen, Stavanger / Sola, Thondheim / Vaernes, and Oslo / Sandefjord.
